Our Mission
“Our mission is to ensure every child in foster care & less privileged homes throughout Oregon & SW Washington have the access to nutrition, hygiene, physical activity & everyday necessities to secure a brighter future. Breaking the cycle of generational poverty & lack of education, SEVERAL kids at a time.”
Our Giving Table is an organization of volunteers and sponsors who get sustainable meals and life’s necessities into the hands of foster kids and other underprivileged children every day, right here in our own backyard.
OGT is founded on the agonizing fact that tens of thousands of children in Oregon are either chronically hungry or starved for real, nutritious food. The situation is all the more grave in summer, when school meals are unavailable. Therefore, we prepare and package whole meals every day — the food we feed our own kids — packed with the proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals that kids need not just to survive, but to thrive.

Who Will Benefit
Over 200,000 Oregon kids suffer food insecurity.
Our goal is to see to it no school-aged child in Oregon ever again knows the anguish of hunger and malnutrition. We have a long way to go to help them all.
Hunger to a child is a constant presence, even if they can’t articulate it. Beyond the hunger pangs themselves, malnourishment threatens mental and physical development, harms the body, and weakens the spirit. Our objective is not only to make sure they are fed and can focus on learning but to help them and their families break the cycle of generational poverty and malnutrition.
Today we are bettering the lives of thousands of Oregon and SW Washington kids who would otherwise go hungry. We are dedicated to reaching and rescuing thousands more.
200,000+
Oregon kids face food insecurity
Worse every summer, when school meals disappear. We have a long way to go to reach them all.
Food: No Greater Gift
Thinking we could raise funds for some small gifts, we recently asked 150 underprivileged kids we support to tell us what they would like for the holidays. The #1 answer: food. They worried where their meals would come from during two weeks away from school.
Kids Helping Kids
Schools are introducing teens early to the many dividends of volunteerism. If you have teens at home who are looking for ways to be of service to their community, OGT gratefully welcomes their help — we will find ways to accommodate their abilities and schedule!
Child Hunger Is Everywhere
Food insecurity exists in every Oregon and SW Washington neighborhood and community, no matter how affluent statistically. Often hungry kids are invisible: they rarely show up at school because they lack the clothes, transportation, energy, or family stability to do so. You can help us show them that somebody cares.
Who this reaches
Hunger doesn’t look like you’d think. It’s invisible.
It shows up in every neighborhood, including the ones you’d call affluent. Kids miss school for lack of clothing, transportation, or stability at home — not for lack of wanting to be there. Here’s what showing up for them adds up to.

How we work
From the farm to the table, fast.
Identify
We partner with Oregon DHS, local schools, and parent-teacher organizations to find the kids who need us most — the ones who often go unnoticed.
Source
Wholesalers, suppliers, and local farms provide fresh fruits, vegetables, unprocessed meats, and whole grains — the food we'd feed our own kids.
Prepare
Volunteers cook whole meals under the supervision of nutritionists and chefs, reaching nearly 2,000 healthful meals a week.
Deliver
A crew ranging from high schoolers to seniors drives meals directly to DHS offices and elementary schools every week.
Events & programs
Meals are just the start.
Oaks Park Day
We rent out a section of Oaks Park for an afternoon of rides, games, face painting, hot dogs and hamburgers, and drinks — a free day out for the kids we serve and their families.
Papa Murphy's Pizza Distribution
The 86 metro-area Papa Murphy's restaurants are owned by almost 30 small business owners who've come together to tackle hunger in our community — delivering pizza and free-pizza vouchers to DHS offices and families throughout the year.
All Kids Have Talent
Our annual fun- and fund-raiser gives kids a stage to show off their talent — singing, dancing, whatever they've got. It's kids supporting kids, and it works wonders for their self-esteem, proof of just how powerful these kids are.
Christmas Drive
Families sponsor other families for the holidays, shopping their wish list of gifts. We collect everything and deliver it straight to the family's local DHS office in time for Christmas.
Community Fundraisers
We host fundraising events all year with the supporters and members of our community who keep meals and everyday necessities flowing to the kids who need them.
